Training program
There must be a formal written education program for clinical staff consistent with the mission statement of the service. There should be written guidelines for the medical management of patients as is relevant to the mission statement of the service. This will include both medical and operational standards including relevant Aviation Medicine. There should be a continuing education program for all air medical crew. This should include patient case review and involve outside (the service) senior specialists who are experts in the relevant field or medical staff consistent with the mission statement of the service.

There must be a formalised quality assurance program for medical as well as operational matters. This can run concurrently with continuing medical education and as such must involve peer review of cases using review officers outside the organisation who are experts in the relevant field.
